New Work for general contractors
HÖRMANN Intralogistics specialises in company-internal logistics. But at some point, the Upper Bavarian engineering office was faced with the question: “How do we actually implement New Work?”
Intralogistics deals with the logistical flow of materials and goods within a company. This not only encompasses transport, but also storage, information sharing and administration. It therefore differs from external logistics as implemented by freight forwarders, for example.
Intralogistics is particularly important for digitalised companies and companies working in the Industry 4.0 sector. Robotics and automation are playing an increasingly important role in efficient intralogistics processes.
Munich-based HÖRMANN Intralogistics specialises in innovative, future-oriented intralogistics. The fast-growing company focuses on implementing advanced solutions to generate key impulses in the industry in terms of profitability, performance and innovation.
From home offices to desk sharing
But this rapid growth also required a new way of providing the space needed by employees. “We are hiring more and more people and desk space is increasingly at a premium,” says Melisa Ibro, Team Assistant at HÖRMANN Intralogistics. “We had systematically offered staff the opportunity to work from home in recent years, which was well received. But we then also wanted to focus more on New Work in our on-site spaces. Desk sharing is a big part of this.”
BACHMANN equipped the desks with DESK 2 connection panels and STEP power strips (including supply lines). The highlight: integrating the iotspot space booking tool in DESK 2. This allows employees to book workplaces and spaces conveniently from home via the app. Once on site, the app shows where each workplace is located. This made desk sharing a structured process.
People matter
HÖRMANN wants to focus even more on New Work in the future, and implementing desk sharing has been simple and efficient thanks to BACHMANN. “One thing that New Work means for us is creating modern and flexible workplaces. And that’s from the equipment itself through to being able to book it.” And what else? “Digitalisation and its impact on the world of work, trust-based working hours and nationwide personnel sourcing from everywhere – all these topics are important to us,” explains Ms Ibro. “HÖRMANN focuses on innovation in terms of value creation and, most importantly, in terms of creating working conditions that are fit for the future!”
"Faultless, uncomplicated and super fast”
1. Why did you choose BACHMANN as your implementation partner?
First and foremost because of the super-fast service! We were always able to contact someone directly, even on site. What’s more, the proposal was simply better value than the competitors.
2. Why did you opt for STEP and DESK 2?
We were impressed by the ease of handling. We initially chose DESK 2. Who knows, maybe at some point we’ll upgrade to the station and cascade upwards. We’re consciously monitoring usage, while also keeping an eye on staff growth.
3. How was the iotspot installation and set up?
It was faultless, uncomplicated and super fast. Our BACHMANN contact person and the team did an excellent job. One of our furniture manufacturers even came by to help us with the integration work. All in all, they are a fantastic team and we were delighted to work with them.
4. What has staff feedback been like so far?
Very good. Everyone is happy. Colleagues who travel longer distances like looking at the app first before heading to the office. This allows them to see who has already booked tables on specific days and, most importantly, where they can be found.
5. What’s it like in the office these days?
It’s as though we’ve been desk sharing forever! Feedback from colleagues has been great.
Even our older colleagues are navigating the app brilliantly; the whole system is easy to use. Everyone has adapted well to the changes. New Work is quite simply one of our success stories!
